Fans can listen to the new single now and mark their calendars for the album release on October 11th under Verve Records.

Jazz sensation Samara Joy is setting the stage for her new album Portrait, slated for release this fall. Leading the charge is her single You Stepped Out Of A Dream, which dropped with a visual accompaniment showcasing the song’s recording. This track revives an eight-decade-old classic, previously interpreted by icons like Nat King Cole and Shirley Horn, and infuses it with a fresh swing thanks to an adept ensemble led by arranger and horn player Jason Charos.

Samara’s single paints a lyrical portrait of fantastical love materializing into reality, backed by a dynamic team including saxophonists David Mason and Kendrick McCallister, trombonist Donavan Austin, bassist Felix Moseholm, drummer Evan Sherman, and pianist Connor Rohrer. The single is just a taste of what to expect from Portrait, which will feature eight tracks:

  1. You Stepped Out Of A Dream
  2. Reincarnation Of A Lovebird
  3. Autumn Nocturne
  4. Peace of Mind / Dreams Come True
  5. A Fool In Love (Is Called A Clown)
  6. No More Blues
  7. Now And Then (In Remembrance Of…)
  8. Day By Day
