Rumors about Ella Purnell prepping for ‘Fallout’ season 2 by playing New Vegas are false, but new set photos reveal more clues!

Recently, rumors began circulating about Fallout actress Ella Purnell and her preparation for the upcoming season 2 of the series, claiming she was instructed to play Fallout: New Vegas to prepare for her role. However, it didn’t take long for people to discover that the rumors were false.

The rumor originated on the X alternative, BlueSky, founded by Jack Dorsey, the co-founder of Twitter. According to the post, Purnell allegedly stated she was told to play the game as a way of familiarizing herself with the source material.

The speculation stemmed from reports that the second season is rumored to center around Fallout: New Vegas. This idea doesn’t seem far-fetched, especially considering that (SPOILER ALERT) Hank (played by Kyle MacLachlan) fled to New Vegas at the end of the first season.

A clearer picture emerges when reviewing the Twitter Community Notes under the post that initiated the rumor on X. The notes clarify that the claim originated from an unverified BlueSky account and that the fake profile recycled one of Purnell’s old posts. To our knowledge, Purnell is only active on Instagram and Threads.

One piece of good news for Fallout fans, however, is the release of new set photos from season 2. In one photo, a Nuka-Cola cooler is visible, while another depicts a desolate building with a damaged sign nearby that resembles the iconic Novac sign from the game.

Last month, another batch of leaked photos surfaced, showing an abandoned motel near Las Vegas, a few retro-futuristic car wrecks, and a massive construction site. The only thing missing is Dinky the T-Rex, Novac’s famous sniper’s nest.

Filming for season 2 has just begun, but there’s no official release date yet. The first season began filming in July 2022 and premiered this April. If the second season follows a similar timeline, fans might expect it to debut in the latter half of 2026. Stay tuned for more updates!
