Billie Lourd Says Comedy Is in Her Blood at 'Mid-Century Modern' Premiere

Billie Lourd says comedy runs in her family and opens up about life, legacy, and her kids at the ‘Mid-Century Modern’ premiere.
American actress Billie Lourd is convinced that she has comedy in her blood! The only daughter of
Carrie Fisher and granddaughter of
Debbie Reynolds, Lourd recently attended the premiere of the comedy series Mid-Century Modern, where she opened up about the talents that run in her family.
Speaking to PEOPLE, Lourd shared that she feels like “the comedy is in the genetics,” though she believes Fisher and Reynolds were both better at it. She went on to admit she can do “a fair bit of tap dancing,” a skill in which, according to Lourd, her mother “sucked at,” but her grandmother excelled.
Later in the interview, Lourd described herself as a “very distinct personality” and “definitely different from both of them.” She also said she’s learned to balance life and work differently than they did, partly because of changing times.
When asked about her two kids with husband Austen Rydell and the possibility of them becoming actors, Lourd revealed she sees star power in them—but doesn’t want to pressure them into show business. Still, if that’s what they choose, she’ll fully support them.
