BET Hip Hop Awards 2024: Kendrick Wins Big, Rising Stars Turn Heads With Performances
Kendrick Lamar took home top honors at the 2024 BET Hip Hop Awards, but new artists caught everyone’s attention with performances that won’t be forgotten.
The 2024 BET Hip Hop Awards just dropped, and the results are here! On October 8, hip-hop legends and newbies alike pulled up to Drai’s Beachclub & Nightclub in Las Vegas to celebrate one of the biggest nights in the game. Hosted by NYC icon Fat Joe, the ceremony aired on BET and VH1 on October 15.
Megan Thee Stallion led the nominations with 12 nods, fresh off her self-titled album and first independent release. Right behind her was Kendrick Lamar with 11 nominations, coming off a heated year thanks to his feud with Drake, who had 8 noms himself.
The results can be summed up in a single sentence: Kendrick walking away a winner with 8 awards under his belt, leaving others to scramble for the rest. But make no mistake — even though the up-and-comers didn’t snag many trophies (shoutout to Sexyy Red for winning Best Breakthrough Hip Hop Artist) they absolutely killed it on stage.
Rising star 310babii performed Pink Whitney, Soak City, And Rock Your Hips!
Memphis queen Glorilla linked up with Big Boogie to perform BOP!
Bossman Dlow brough back the classic vibe with his songs Shake That Ass (Twerk) and Get In With Me!
Oh, and can’t forget Travis Scott being honored with the I Am Hip Hop Award. Crazy to think that just ten years ago, he was one of the new kids on the block with Days Before Rodeo. Now he’s getting recognized for changing “the course of hip-hop with a procession of groundbreaking albums and conversation-starting moves.”
