Ayo Edebiri’s horror film Opus reveals its release date: March 14, after premiering at Sundance on January 27.

Ayo Edebiri’s long-anticipated horror film Opus finally has a release date! Following its premiere at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival on January 27, the film will head for a theatrical release on March 14.

Opus follows a young writer, played by Edebiri, who receives an invitation to a remote compound of a legendary rock star, played by John Malkovich, who disappeared 30 years ago. What she finds out is that the rock star surrounds himself with a cult of his fanatic worshippers, and she ends up in the middle of his nefarious scheme.

Besides Edebiri and Malkovich, Opus also features Juliette Lewis, Amber Midthunder, Murray Bartlett, and Young Mazino, among others. The film was written and directed by Mark Anthony Green, who makes his feature film debut as a director.

Edebiri has another movie coming up this year, the James L. Brooks comedy Ella McCay, with Emma Mackey, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Woody Harrelson. She will also star alongside Julia Roberts in Luca Guadagnino’s thriller After the Hunt.
