Ayo Edebiri’s Golden Globe Nod for ‘The Bear’ Heats Up the Awards Season Race
Ayo Edebiri aims for her third Golden Globe in ‘The Bear,’ as the show leads top nominations again at the Golden Globes.
The Boston actress Ayo Edebiri, best known for playing Sydney Adam in the comedy-drama TV series The Bear, is gaining more recognition for her role in the series! She received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy.
It’s not the first time she’s been nominated for a Golden Globe for The Bear. Last year, not only was she nominated, but she also won the award, along with other prestigious honors.
This year, she aims to win the prize again. She will be competing against Kristen Bell, Quinta Brunson, Selena Gomez, Kathryn Hahn, and Jean Smart.
This year, The Bear leads the TV category at the Golden Globes with five nominations. The show is nominated for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy, an award it won last year, and for which it also received a nomination the previous year.
Edebiri’s The Bear co-star, Jeremy Allen White, is nominated for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy, an award he has won two years in a row. Will he continue the streak?
The supporting actors of The Bear received recognition as well. Ebon Moss-Bachrach is nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a TV Series, and Liza Colón-Zayas is nominated for Best Supporting Actress.
Ayo Edebiri won her first Golden Globe for The Bear in 2023, followed by another Golden Globe win in 2024. She also earned the Critics’ Choice Award and the Screen Actors Guild Award for her performances on the show.
Currently, Edebiri is busy filming the thriller After the Hunt with Julia Roberts and Andrew Garfield. She also has two movies in post-production: the comedy Ella McCay, starring Emma Mackey and Jamie Lee Curtis, and the horror film Opus, featuring John Malkovich, Juliette Lewis, and Amber Midthunder.
