At New York Comic Con, James Gunn dropped a bombshell, revealing Aaron Pierre was his first pick for Adam Warlock in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’!

Aaron Pierre, who was recently cast as John Stewart in the Lanterns series, missed out on a big role! During DC’s presentation on upcoming projects at the New York Comic Con, director James Gunn (who will also direct Lanterns) revealed that Pierre was his first choice for the role of Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The role eventually went to Will Poulter, who absolutely nailed it.

Gunn mentioned during the panel that he had wanted to work with Pierre for a long time, having admired him since the beginning of his career. One can imagine Pierre had a huge grin when he first heard this.

But this isn’t the first Marvel project Pierre missed out on. He was also originally set to star alongside Mahershala Ali in Marvel’s Blade reboot within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although his role was never disclosed, he stepped away from the project this past May. Given the production’s multiple setbacks, this wasn’t entirely shocking.

However, third time’s the charm! Now, with Pierre officially attached to Lanterns, it seems like we have a new Marvel star on the horizon.
