The Diana Award, established in honor of Princess Diana since 1999, recognizes young people who contribute to improving the lives of others.

During Thursday’s Diana Awards ceremony at the Science Museum in London, named after his mother Diana, Prince William briefly mentioned his wife Cate, who is recovering from surgery and hasn’t been appearing in public.

The Prince William said that he and Kate are trying to preserve his mother’s legacy, just like the 50,000 awardees over the past 25 years. He also mentioned her during the visit to the “West" facility – or "Where Everyone Sticks Together,” where he met with the youth. While decorating cookies during the event, he also noted that his wife and children are more artistically inclined than he is.

At the awards ceremony, Prince Harry also spoke via live video, thanking for safeguarding his mother’s legacy and inspiring others. However, the video call occurred after his elder brother had left.
