Xolo Maridueña recently took to Instagram to commemorate the first anniversary of the DC superhero film Blue Beetle, which premiered on August 18, 2023. In his post, Maridueña shared photos from the filming and premiere of the movie, in which he portrayed the lead character Jaime Reyes - Blue Beetle.
The actor, who rose to fame with roles in Cobra Kai and Parenthood, expressed his deep connection to the film and thanked everyone involved in its creation. Directed by Ángel Manuel Soto, Blue Beetle became the first live-action superhero film to feature a Latino actor in the lead role. Despite mixed success at the box office, the film received positive reviews and became the most streamed film on Warner Bros.’ Max service.
