Paul Mescal’s Comedy Debut on 'SNL' Is Already Making Waves!
Paul Mescal prepares for his ‘SNL’ debut this Saturday, with a promo showcasing his comedic side in a funny skit!
The Gladiator II star Paul Mescal is dipping his toes into comedy! His Saturday Night Live debut is right around the corner, with the premiere airing this Saturday. To make the wait even shorter, SNL released a promo clip for the episode, starring none other than Mescal himself.
The skit opens with Heidi Gardner and Devon Walker, who find Mescal surprisingly early at a table read for the upcoming show. Gardner praises Mescal’s work in Gladiator II before asking whether he’s there because he’s a method actor.
“Not my style,” Mescal replies. However, when Gardner and Walker begin arguing over whose script Gardner is holding, he shifts. “And so it shall be. A fight to the death,” he declares, pulling out two swords and shouting, “For glory! And for truth!”
Walker quickly dispels the tension by handing the script to Gardner, his nervousness evident, which calms Paul down—at least until Mikey Day enters the scene. Day informs Paul that he can’t play Donald Trump Jr. in a skit because it’s “his thing.”
“Absolutely! No problem, it’s all yours,” Paul responds with a smile as he slowly steps into the background. But just moments after Mikey Day begins praising Paul, an arrow suddenly strikes him in the chest, and he collapses.
The camera then pans to Mescal holding a bow. “A man must fight for what is rightfully his. I will have vengeance or I will have death!” he declares, before breaking character with a chuckle and saying goodbye to both Gardner and Walker, saying he can’t wait to see them at the read-through.
Paul Mescal will make his SNL debut on December 7, alongside singer-songwriter Shaboozey. The show returns after a three-week break, leaving fans with one lingering question: Will Pedro Pascal make a cameo?
