Patrick Schwarzenegger Thought He Had a Shot at Superman but Reality Hit Hard

Patrick Schwarzenegger reveals he auditioned for Superman in James Gunn’s DCU before landing his role in ‘The White Lotus’ S3.
The White Lotus actor Patrick Schwarzenegger, who plays Saxon Ratliff in the third season of the series, just revealed that he wanted to play Superman in
James Gunn’s upcoming DCU movie starring
David Corenswet—he even auditioned for the role!
Talking to Josh Horowitz on his Happy Sad Confused podcast, Schwarzenegger was asked how many superhero auditions he had done over the years. Surprisingly, he said he had auditioned for only a few—Homelander from The Boys, then the Golden Boy (which he landed), and Superman.
Schwarzenegger also revealed that he didn’t even get any feedback, but it didn’t take long before he landed his role in The White Lotus, which he struggled to keep a secret from his family.
Later in the interview, Schwarzenegger shared a shift he noticed in the film industry, revealing that he had recently had one of his first in-person auditions since COVID.
He did an in-person audition for the sports drama series American Sports Story with Ryan Murphy, and he also did an in-person audition for the romantic dramedy The Idea of You, starring Anne Hathaway and
Nicholas Galitzine.
The third season of The White Lotus is currently airing on HBO.
