The Little Mermaid actress Jessica Alexander is leading a group of 10 actors who recently joined the cast of the Paramount horror flick Primate, Deadline reports.
Oscar winner Troy Kotsur and Johnny Sequoyah had already been announced, and now, along with Alexander, they are joined by Victoria Wyant, Benjamin Cheng, Gia Hunter, Miguel Torres Umba, Kae Alexander, Tienne Simon, Charlie Mann, Amina Abdi, and Albert Magashi.
While little is known about the plot, the project was greenlit in July with Johannes Roberts as the director and Kotsur in the lead role. Sequoyah was the second to join the cast in August, and with these 10 new additions, the film is starting to look promising.
Last year, Jessica Alexander appeared in her biggest role yet, playing Vanessa in The Little Mermaid, a performance praised by both fans and critics. This year, she can be seen in the romantic TV series Fallen, and she is also working on Amadeus, a miniseries about Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, in which she plays Caterina Cavalieri, an Austrian soprano.
Given the typically lukewarm reception of Johannes Roberts’ previous films, let’s hope Primate breaks the pattern of mediocrity.
