Jodie Comer Teases '28 Years Later' in a Preview That Will Haunt Your Dreams
Jodie Comer reveals first ‘28 Years Later’ trailer on Instagram, teasing a brand-new chapter in post-apocalyptic horror.
Jodie Comer recently took to her Instagram to tease the upcoming post-apocalyptic horror film 28 Years Later, offering a look at the first trailer for the 28 Weeks Later sequel, which has been in discussions since 2007.
The trailer doesn’t offer much in terms of story, which is a great thing these days, considering most horror trailers spoil almost the entire plot, leaving nothing new for the viewer.
It initially shows a group of kids watching Teletubbies on TV before Jodie Comer bursts in, carrying a little girl and leaving her there, telling the kids to stay put. After that, a series of quick shots flash by, showing zombies getting inside the house and blood splattering on the TV.
The trailer then shows a few clips of a small island with several houses and people working. A shot of a wall with a sign that says “Roles in our community” is then shown, with three pictures beneath it.
The first picture shows a man carrying a dead deer in the wild with a dog by his side. In the second, a man operates a tractor in a field. The third features a woman picking mushrooms with a basket on her back. It seems that the community had to resort to a hunter-gatherer lifestyle, augmented by farmers.
The following shot reveals even more roles: Councillor, Seamster, and Watch Tower. More locations appear before we see Aaron Taylor-Johnson walking around one of the settlements, then venturing out of the gate and over the water from the island community, accompanied by a young companion.
Further shots in the trailer reveal Edvin Ryding wielding a weapon, an armed squad getting ambushed in a dark tunnel, a strange structure made of skulls, and a bloodied Ralph Fiennes looking as if he’s about to murder someone. One of the creepiest shots comes near the end, when a zombie that resembles Cillian Murphy rises from the ground in a field of yellow flowers, looking pale and dried out.
28 Years Later is directed by Danny Boyle, who co-wrote the screenplay with Alex Garland. Both return to their roles from 28 Days Later. The film features Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ralph Fiennes, Jack O’Connell, Erin Kellyman, and Edvin Ryding, as well as Cillian Murphy reprising his role as Jim from the first movie.
The film was shot on an iPhone over three months this year, from May to July, back-to-back with a planned sequel titled 28 Years Later Part II: The Bone Temple, with Cillian Murphy confirmed to star.
28 Years Later premieres in the United States on June 20, 2025.
