Anna Sawai celebrated a milestone at the 40th Television Critics Association (TCA) Awards, winning her first Individual Achievement in Drama award for her role in the FX series Shōgun (2024 - present). The series, based on James Clavell’s 1975 novel, also took home several accolades, including Program of the Year, Outstanding Achievement in Drama, and Outstanding New Program.

Shōgun, which premiered on February 27, 2024, has received widespread acclaim for its direction, writing, and performances, especially Sawai’s portrayal of Mariko. The show features a predominantly Japanese cast, with much of the dialogue in Japanese, adding authenticity to this historical drama.
