Emma Mackey's Comedy 'Ella McKay' Will Resume Filming This March
Emma Mackey’s ‘Ella McCay’ resumes filming in Providence, marking James L. Brooks’ big return after 13 years — finally!!
It seems that the upcoming 
Emma Mackey comedy from 
James L. Brooks, titled Ella McCay, is not finished yet! News has emerged that the production returned to Providence and resumed filming.
Filming started on February 1, 2024, and wrapped on May 3. It took place in Providence, Rhode Island, and Cleveland, Ohio. The production is now reported to be returning to Providence this March to shoot some additional scenes.
Ella McCay is a comedy written by the legendary James L. Brooks, who also serves as the director and co-producer. It follows a young politician who tries to stay sane while balancing her family life and work after she is elected governor of her state.
This is James L. Brooks’s first film in thirteen years, following the romantic comedy How Do You Know, which starred 
Reese Witherspoon, 
Owen Wilson, 
Paul Rudd, and 
Jack Nicholson in his final film role.
Besides Emma Mackey, Ella McCay also stars 
Jamie Lee Curtis, 
Woody Harrelson, 
Ayo Edebiri, 
Albert Brooks, 
Kumail Nanjiani, and 
Spike Fearn, among others.
While the movie was in post-production, Emma Mackey was busy filming the upcoming drama Hot Milk with 
Vicky Krieps, 
Fiona Shaw, and 
Vincent Perez.
It has been confirmed that filming is expected to resume in March, but there has been no news about which actors will return to shoot more scenes.
