Gail Mitchell, the executive director at Billboard, said, “Doechii is the Woman of the Year because she lives in her authenticity; she lives in her truth.”
She adds that Doechii is not some overnight success; the rapper has been in the game for a while, even though some fans might not know her early beginnings.
Over the weekend Doechii attended the 2025 GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles, where she won Outstanding Music Artist for Alligator Bites Never Heal.
There, she delivered another impassioned speech, calling out anti-LGBTQ+ discrimination and positioning herself as a “fierce ally” to the community. “I stand here as a testimony,” she said, echoing the resilience that has defined her career.
Apart from her most recent award, it is important to mention that Doechii is the third woman in Grammy history to win Best Rap Album of the Year, along with her nominations for Best New Artist and Best Rap Performance in 2025.
This year has undoubtedly been the most fruitful for the Swamp Princess, and we are here to witness her next big moves in music.
