David Corenswet talks playing Superman, shares fun behind-the-scenes moments as new footage debuts at CinemaCon 2025.

American actor David CorenswetDavid Corenswet, who plays the Man of Steel in the upcoming Superman movie, recently attended CinemaCon 2025 with his co-stars and director James Gunn to promote the film. During the presentation, new footage from the film was revealed!

The footage featured Superman and his dog Krypto, who drags him into the Fortress of Solitude, with lines that drew laughs from the audience. Peter Safran, co-CEO of DC Studios, shared that Krypto was inspired by James Gunn’s dog Ozu, who is unfortunately far from as heroic as Krypto.

On stage, Corenswet recalled a scene he filmed with Rachel Brosnahan, who plays Lois Lane, which took two days to shoot — joking about how many pancakes he had to eat during it. He also described playing Superman as a “great honor to play a role that exists so clearly in the public consciousness.”

Lex Luthor actor Nicholas Hoult praised Corenswet’s performance, saying it felt like “witnessing the magic of cinema in first-person in real time.” When asked which other DC character he’d like to play, Corenswet replied, “Batman,” and turned to James Gunn, adding that it would be fun.

Superman premieres in cinemas on July 11, 2025.
