Rumors are starting to circulate around Jacob Elordi’s potential new role! The Euphoria actor has been mentioned as one of the possible candidates for the lead role in Luca Guadagnino’s new adaptation of the American cult classic American Psycho.
Elordi further raised a few eyebrows by deleting his Instagram account. While some speculate he may release a single or an album, since he sang in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, others believe the announcement could reveal his casting as Patrick Bateman is just around the corner.
Adding fuel to the rumors, Elordi was spotted having lunch with Luca Guadagnino, the director of the upcoming adaptation, as reported by Deadline. While nothing is set in stone, the two of them together hint that there might be some truth to the speculation.
Luca Guadagnino has a solid track record with his films. While he had some misses, like Suspiria, he also directed acclaimed movies like Call Me by Your Name with Timothée Chalamet, which won several awards and is even considered one of the best films of the 21st century. His most recent release was Challengers with Zendaya, which achieved both box-office and critical success.
Elordi showcased two films at festivals this year: the drama Oh, Canada, with Richard Gere, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May, and On Swift Horses, also a drama, featuring Daisy Edgar-Jones in the lead, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.
And let’s not forget Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, where Elordi plays Frankenstein’s monster opposite Oscar Isaac as Victor Frankenstein, and The Narrow Road to the Deep North, an Australian drama miniseries set in 1943. Both of these projects recently wrapped filming and are now in post-production, so it’s just a matter of time before we get to see them.
Elordi has big shoes to fill, as Christian Bale’s portrayal of Bateman was extraordinary and iconic. But if anyone can do it, it’s him.
