A win of a lifetime has just happened for Jasmine Cruickshank, a.k.a. Jasmine.4.t. The Manchester-based musician, with a modest following, has released her debut album, You Are the Morning, produced by the mighty Boygenius.
What kickstarted this phenomenal collaboration was a simple text message from Boygenius’ Lucy Dacus inviting Jasmine to open for her concert in 2018.
Fast forward: after submitting her demos to Saddest Factory Records, Jasmine becomes the label’s first UK signee. She flies to Los Angeles to work on the You Are the Morning project with the legendary Boygenius trio.
The new LP is a deeply sincere and vulnerable body of work, focusing on the intricacies of queer intimacy and self-expression.
Jasmine.4.t is an active advocate for queer and trans rights, emphasizing that the community faces an ongoing battle.
This story illustrates how a small-time dreamer from a community that faces hardships internationally can succeed if they believe in themselves and keep working on their craft.
