Rising pop singer Alessia Cara finally drops her new album Love & Hyperbole. Feelings of love, pain, and euphoria transcend through this sonically pleasing 14-track record, crafted with great care and attention.
This is Alessia Cara’s fifth full-length album, and so far, it stands as her best body of work. The previously released singles Dead Man and (Isn’t It) Obvious have already amassed around 4 million streams each on Spotify.
A four-time Grammy nominee has shared her thoughts about the making of this album:
"One thought that keeps poking its head out when I think of this album is that I guess it’s a declaration of sorts: accepting loss for what it is has led me to accepting love for what it can be. “Can” is the key. “Can” means to be planted, grown, stretched, transferred, transformed, expanded, and personified. I learned so much while writing these songs. Even in moments charged by fear or uncertainty, I really wanted them to stand firm and not shy away from themselves, mirroring what I’d like to think I’m actively practicing in my real life. These days I try to wrap my arms tightly around the joy I’ve found through opening myself up to love and loss in all their complex shapes, but simultaneously throw them up over my head in radical surrender (occasionally through gritted teeth and closed fists, but surrendering nonetheless) to life’s swinging pendulum—thus far and from now on. I’ve never really been scared to be sad, but now I’m no longer scared to be happy. It feels very new and very good. It also feels good to play with new sounds and find my groove! This is my favourite project to date.
