Aaron Pierre Takes Center Stage in 'Mufasa: The Lion King' Final Trailer
Aaron Pierre leads ‘Mufasa: The Lion King’, a prequel-sequel exploring Mufasa’s rise, with the final trailer now out.
The Aaron Pierre-led Mufasa: The Lion King just released its final trailer, making the wait until December 20 feel a little shorter.
As the title suggests, the movie follows Mufasa, the father of Simba from The Lion King, exploring his journey as he grows up and becomes the king of the Pride Lands. Mufasa serves as both a prequel and a sequel to the 2019 Lion King and the original 1994 version.
Alongside Pierre, who voices Mufasa, Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, John Kani, and Beyoncé reprise their roles from the first movie. New additions to the cast include Kelvin Harrison Jr. (who voices Taka, later known as Scar), Mads Mikkelsen, Thandiwe Newton, Tiffany Boone, and Lennie James. Notably, Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, is set to make her feature film debut in this installment.
The soundtrack promises to be outstanding, with contributions from stars like Hans Zimmer, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Pharrell Williams.
Despite facing some criticism, the first movie performed exceptionally well at the box office, grossing $1.657 billion on a $250-260 million budget and breaking several records. It was the highest-grossing animated film of all time for five years until Inside Out 2 overtook it a few months ago.
Mufasa: The Lion King was first announced in 2022 at the D23 Expo, with the teaser trailer debuting this April. While some have questioned the movie’s necessity, many fans are eagerly anticipating it, with praise for the trailer’s improved facial animations compared to the 2019 remake.
Will Mufasa: The Lion King be as successful as its predecessor? Only time will tell. The movie is set to arrive in cinemas on December 20, so if you’re lucky, you might catch it before Christmas!
