Elizabeth Taylor (1932 - 2011) met Michael Jackson (1958 - 2009) after leaving in the middle of his concert at a baseball stadium in Los Angeles in the mid-eighties. The singer called her and found out that she had left due to a poor view, not because of his singing. The entire phone call ended up lasting three hours and concluded with plans for a joint visit. As the actress later stated, they became good friends.
Similar childhoods that connected them
Their shared experience of being famous since childhood and not having a peaceful adolescence played a significant role. They were able to spend long hours together, watching movies and chatting.
Magnificent gifts
They also exchanged gifts. While Elizabeth Taylor gave Michael Jackson an elephant, he composed the song “Elizabeth, I Love You” (1997) and prepared an apartment for her at his Neverland Ranch. He also organized a wedding for Elizabeth Taylor with her then-husband there and built spaces where her movies were constantly screened.
Elizabeth Taylor also personally attended Jackson’s legal proceedings and defended him. When he passed away in 2011, it was a tremendous loss for her.
