Combster's PFW Designer Spotlight: Wales Bonner
Rooted in extensive cultural research, the label infuses European heritage with an Afro-Atlantic spirit, proposing a unique notion of cultural luxury.
Launched in 2014 after Grace Wales Bonner’s graduation from Central Saint Martins, the Wales Bonner brand has carved out a distinct niche in the luxury fashion landscape.
Established as a menswear brand, the soulful tailoring soon expanded to womenswear, earning the label critical acclaim and numerous prestigious awards, including Emerging Menswear Designer at the British Fashion Awards in 2015, LVMH Young Designer Prize in 2016, or the British Fashion Council/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund in 2019.
Beyond her celebrated fashion collections, Grace Wales Bonner has also curated influential exhibitions, such as A Time For New Dreams at the Serpentine Galleries in London or Artist’s Choice - Spirit Movers at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and is currently leading a research project at the University of Applied Arts Vienna.
With stockists ranging from Dover Street Market to Bergdorf Goodman, Wales Bonner continues to captivate the global fashion community with its distinctive vision that bridges tradition and modernity.
